Hi, I’m Andy.
I’m an Alaska-born artist and author, raised in the rural outskirts of Palmer, Alaska. I grew up hiking, hunting and exploring the Chugach and Talkeetna mountains, and canoeing the lakes and rivers of Southcentral Alaska.

The quiet pace and rugged challenges of rural life and hard work inform both my writing and my art, as does the beautiful wilderness of my Alaska home.
I grew up working the produce farms in the fertile Matanuska Valley. We chopped wood for our heat, carried water and feed for our horses by hand, and hunted for meat in the fall.

I’ve left Alaska a time or two; for music school in Hollywood, we moved to Kauai – the garden isle of the Hawaiian Islands – after the birth of our son, we try to get to Slovakia to visit my wife’s family whenever we can.

But Alaska has always been home. So while my stories range far afield to fantastical times and worlds, much of my art celebrates my home and Alaska’s exceptional residents.

Today, Zuzana and I live in Anchorage, sharing the wilds of Alaska with our son and daughter. Thank you for sharing in our adventures!
